One million music-lovers
A milestone for Melbourne Recital Centre thanks to you, our music-lovers.
In mid-2017, Melbourne Recital Centre welcomed 1 million visitors to the Centre to experience live music in our spaces. Since opening in February 2009, the Centre has grown significantly year on year – not only in the number of concerts we present or host, but also the number of talented artists, ensembles and musicians we work with and the wonderfully diverse music-loving audiences we reach. We are proud to welcome music-lovers from diverse backgrounds and interests to the Centre every day.
Across the globe, 1 million music-lovers fills Royal Albert Hall in London 190 times, the Wiener Musikverein in Vienna 350 times, Carnegie Hall in New York 356 times, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam 506 times and the Konzerthaus in Berlin 705 times. We are inspired by these acclaimed arts and music organisations and artists that perform in these venues every season.
Within our spaces, we love witnessing the expression on music-lovers’ faces when they walk into the Salon or Elisabeth Murdoch Hall for the very first time.
The wonderful feedback we receive daily from people like you who visit the Centre and experience live music in our spaces.
The music-lovers who engage with our Box Office, Front of House and Stage Door staff and bring our foyers to life with excitement and energy.
1 million music-lovers means we can continue to present hundreds of diverse events each year for music-lovers to attend and enjoy.
We can continue to offer local and international artists many opportunities to perform in our spaces.
We can support dozens of cultural and community groups with access to the Centre, its music and beyond.
We can continue to provide emerging artists with valuable professional development and learning opportunities through our programs and so much more.
In 2019, Melbourne Recital Centre celebrates 10 years of music-making and performance. And we want to celebrate with you!
